Feed Your Family For Less
1. Buy your meat, fruit & vegetables from a butcher, fruit shop or farmers market. You will be amazed at how much you will save. Only buy fresh produce from the supermarket if it’s on special.
2. Bulk up on supermarket items that you use regularly, when they are on special.
3. Cut out a couple of meat meals per week. If you go veggie a few days a week, this can save you a heap.
4. Bulk up meals with lentils or beans. Not only is this good for you, but it will also make your meals go much further.
5. Do it yourself, rather than buying pre-packaged goods. While less convenient, a block of cheese is much cheaper than a bag of grated cheese.
6. Make your own snacks and freeze them individually, so you can pop them in the kid’s lunch boxes or take them to work.
7. Set a weekly meal plan and list exactly what you need – this will save you buying unnecessary items at the supermarket.
8. You can save even more by setting your meals plans around items or produce that are on special.
9. Where possible, only buy produce that is in season. It will be fresher and cheaper than produce that’s not in season.
10. Don’t waste leftovers – keep them for lunch or dinner the next day.
