My Sisters Keeper

mysistersBring a box of tissues when you see this movie. And I don’t mean one of those handy pocket packs. You’ll need a whole big box.

But it’s not a movie of doom and gloom. Through the veil of tears, you’ll see a moving story of courage, choices and family.

Anna is born via IVF with the purpose of saving her sister Kate’s life. Kate has been diagnosed with leukemia and Anna donates her cord blood and then later her bone marrow to twice save her sister. But when Kate’s kidneys fail and Anna is called upon to donate one of her own, Anna hires a lawyer to gain the right to make her own medical decisions. This naturally puts immense pressure on the family, as everyone faces the consequences of Anna’s decision.

This is the film adaptation of the 2004 novel of the same name by Jodi Picoult. It stars Cameron Diaz, Jason Patric, Sofia Vassilieva and Abigail Breslin. All deliver exceptional performances, particularly Diaz, in a role unlike you’ve ever seen her before.

See it with someone you love.
