Adam
After watching the trailer for this movie on my work computer with no sound to hear the plotline, I went along to
“Adam” with a vision of a simple film about complicated love. As it turns out, I wasn’t far wrong. “Adam” begins with an opening montage depicting the funeral of a young man’s father and last family member to speak of. A lightly optimistic soundtrack helps you to imagine the life he has known, now coming to an end, and a fresh beginning with the hope of something new.
Adam is an extraordinarily intelligent young man with a quiet yet capable simplicity about him. One Autumn comes Beth into his life, a new friendly neighbour. As a quirky friendship begins between the two, the audience is slowly drawn into their evolving relationship. This journey unfolds not in a straight line but on a jaggered path that surprises with every turn. At no point in this film, are you able to imagine or predict what will happen next.
An impressive and 100% believable acting from the young charismatic Australian Actress Rose Byrne and a solid performance from newcomber Hugh Dancy.
Straying refreshingly far from the ever predictable romcom, “Adam” tells a quirky story of love and life from a perspective you would not imagine.
